Unique gifts for entertaining in style

Do you have people in your life that are really hard to buy for because they seem to have everything?

Do you or your family and friends like entertain and love to collect unique things?

Are you a terrible shopper who goes to the mall for hours and can't decide what to get for gifts?

Are you just too busy to run around town looking for that perfect gift but you really want to find something cool for your friends and family or even for yourself if you want to host a great gathering? What about hostess and housewarming gifts even.

Well there is a great company that can help you. Uncommon Goods a U.S. based company contacted me to check out some of their unique gifts, jewelry, bar items, home decor and more.  They are U.S. based but they ship some items to Canada as well.

"Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, UncommonGoods is a privately-owned retailer
that endeavors to feature unique jewelry, designer d├ęcor, tabletop items and handcrafted gifts created in
harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people."

Most of their items are made in the U.S.A and the lowest paid seasonal worker gets paid 50% above minimum wage. This is important if you are concerned about outsourced cheap labour and abuse of workers. Plus it supports the workers who live in North America.  Half of what they sell is made by hand. If you are concerned about the environment then you would appreciate that one-third of their collection incorporates recycled and/or up-cycled materials.

Here are a few of the items they were able to send me to check out.

I can tell you for a fact that they arrived very quickly with no hassle whatsoever.  I am considering throwing my own birthday party just to show off some of these great items.

I really liked the Silver Row Boat because it's a really unique way to serve things like salads or even shrimp or  bread or other things people can just scoop up would be really cool.  it would make a fabulous centerpiece.

The Venn diagram serving platter is a really interesting looking platter that would be perfect for crudite because you can put your dip in the middle and keep it separated from your dippers.  It would also be great as an olive or pickle dish I would imagine. Designed by Thomas Both, designer, artist and engineer.

So have you ever sat down in your couch and wanted to eat something like nacho chips and salsa while watching TV?  Well, this OOMA bowl would be perfect for you or your lazy brother even.  You don't have to juggle 2 bowls and you can hold it in one hand easily and just pick, dip and eat.  You might even use it to have veggies and hummus, pita and tzatziki dip,  tomato soup and maybe some grilled cheese bites.  Who knows what else you could use it for but it is another item that would look great on a buffet table for dips. This is designed by Thomas Both who is interested in human-centered design.

Do you love pie?  or PI?  or have smart foodie friends?  Maybe you can get them these smart Pie dessert plates that say "I eight some pi"  and maybe give it to them with a homemade pie some vanilla ice cream and some fancy spoons.  Who wouldn't want to get that as a gift.  I know it would make my day.

These are only a few of the huge catalogue of hand crafted items that are available.

Give it a look and see what you can find you know Wedding Season is fast approaching and if you have a wedding for a couple that are already living together and have been for a while then maybe give them something different instead of money if you want them to remember you every time they use the gift.

*disclaimer- sample items were given to me for review but the opinions in this post are my own.
